2023 highlights
At the end of the first day of 2024, it is good to reflect on the year that has been.
What an amazing year 2023 was for photography for me. At the end of 2022 I was super uncertain what the future was going to hold. I had to make a decision about whether I continued in a job that I was not enjoying any more or take a leap of faith into the unknown, to leave with no new role to go to. I would have to see if I could find something new and exciting that would be a good fit for me, that I could really make a difference in, but would allow to spend more time at home and expand my passion for photography.... it was not an easy choice, but I am SO glad I made it.
I've been fortunate to find a new "day job" that has allowed me to work from home in Wellington, to travel to Oz, UK and US but to also take more photographs than ever before. This has allowed me to get the opportunity to work on a wider variety of photography projects: fashion shoots, portraiture, vehicle shoots, products shoots, events (parties and poetry events seems to be my sweet spot!), Buddhist retreat photography, charity events, brand identity, and my annual calendar which raised 2000 for cancer research!!
Without a doubt, one of the highlights of the year has been to be part of the refurbishment project at Wellington Regional Hospital. There has been an ongoing project to replace copper piping throughout the hospital, and as part of the refurbishment project I was invited to supply artwork for the walls in the Neonates Intensive Care Unit Family Room, Renal, Urology and the "Decant" Ward. It has been an amazing project to be part of, and I hope to continue the relationship into 2024 and beyond!
